Floral Arrangement, China Asia art, 中国插花艺术
As an art form, Chinese flower arrangement began during the Northern and Southern Dynasties when Buddhism spread into China, bringing its custom of offering flowers at temple altars. By the Five Dynasties (907-960 A.D.) Emperor Li Hou Tsu had made the floral art an imperial affair by holding an annual flower arrangement exhibition at his palace. This event was to mark the rise of court flower arrangement.
The Sung Dynasty (960-1279 A.D.), with its literati paintings, was the flourish of literati flower arrangement. By the time of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.), the art was practiced widely amongst the populace, used in homes and during special festive occasions. A burgeoning number of Chinese floral arrangers had perfected techniques placing equal weight on beauty, structure, and m...

A burgeoning number of Chinese floral arrangers had perfected techniques placing equal weight on beauty, structure, and meaning, laying the foundations of an Oriental art form which would spread to Japan, Korea, and even Europe and the Americas.
Naturalism continued to play the main role in Chinese flower arrangement, however. One of the great exponents of the art, Yuan Hung-Tao, once wrote, “As for balance, do not arrange the blossoms too chaotically, not too prosaically. At most two or three varieties in one composition-all short, sparse, and thick, but not to extremes. Avoid symmetry, straight columns, and lines, and above all, don’t tie up the flowers with knots. Follow botanical principles; the appearance should be natural like...an essay that flows without constructions and rigid conclusions. If branches are parallel and colors but red and white, is the arrangement not like the trees before the magistrate’s court or the inscriptions on grave stones?”

Meet Han Xiang, founder of Green Profile and an award winning florist in Singapore.
While many relate flowers to ladies, in Hanxiang's case, it is different. He relate flowers to arts and design, combining his knowledge in landscaping design and flower arrangements to win several awards in Singapore which includes: Singapore Garden Festival 2014 & 2016, Floral Designers Society Singapore’s Young Designer Awards 2017.
With a degree in Facilities Management and being a facilities manager and a senior fire safety manager, Hanxiang has the opportunities to create landscaping design, estate decoration and coordinate events.
While having a passion for floral designing, he decided to pursue his interest in it. Since then, he has obtained Professional Certificate in Florist Development, American Floral Design and European Floral Design from Nobleman School of Floral Design which does not only have the expertise in fundamental floral arrangement, they are also versatile in the teaching of floral design as an art form.
His designs are influenced by my love for nature and a deep connection with human emotions. To symbolise the coexistence of man and nature, his artwork features a fusion between plants and manmade sculptures.
We hear from Hanxiang to learn a little more about him and why he steps into the floristry industry :)

AzRose LLC complex is located in the picturesque district of Gabala,
Azerbaijan. The greenhouse was established in 2018 and has an area of
around 30 000m2.
The complex has the latest standards for growing roses. Irrigation, lighting,
heating and ventilation systems are completely electronic. LED lamps that
can replace solar energy have been installed in the greenhouse for the rapid
growth of flowers, as well as special equipment for disinfection of the area
and sorting equipment for automatic sorting of cut flowers according to their
size.
More than 10 different rose varieties such as Red Naomi, Jumilia, Avalange,
Wow, Montematre, Espana, Sofia Loren, London Eye, Adelin, Prince of Persia
are cultivated in the complex. Two more rose varieties Spray Piano and
Rococo, as well as decorative plants Gypsophila and Hip-Hop have been
newly planted in 2021.
The harvesting and agro-technical care is usually carried out 2-3 times a day.
It is important to know the optimum harvesting stage for each variety to
ensure the quality of roses after harvest. The process is different for each
rose and each variety has a minimum harvest maturity stage in which
flowers can be harvested without affecting their postharvest quality. The
vegetation period of the rose usually lasts 8-10 weeks.
After harvesting, flowers are moved to a cold storage for 4-5 hours. The cold
room assures the optimal care of a rose stem after it was harvested.
The next stage involves calibration and sorting of roses according to the
stem height, bud size and other pre-defined parameters. After, they are
moved to the ready product warehouse.
Climate control and irrigation required for the cultivation of roses are based
on the state-of-the-art equipment and controlled via centralized computer
system. The required amount of water and nutrients is provided daily
through the drip irrigation system.
The flowers are available all year round. Product quality and cultivation are
monitored by local and foreign agronomists.
